Welcome to survival review. We hope to become your online destination for unbiased reviews on outdoor and survival gear.

A few years ago, right out of USAF Basic Training, I got hitched. I think it was then that I started to really considered my preparedness, after all, now I had someone counting on ME (thats a frightening thought). It started pretty slowly at first, but after a few late nights on the internet reading I realized the importance of being “ready”. I began obsessing about preparedness. I read reviews, how-to’s, conspiracy theories, instructional documents, a lot of great stuff, a lot of crazy crap.

After a few months of this I began to realize that everything concerning survival can be broken down in to two basic camps: STUFF and SELF (I know, thats not very catchy but it’ll do). The STUFF/SELF breakdown is pretty easy to understand. SELF includes training, self awareness, mental stability, physical fitness, spiritual well being, and, very simply, everything else about you personally. STUFF is the rest of the puzzle, these are things that you need (or would be nice to have) in order to survive. Gear in general has always been a passion of mine. Since I can remember I have always been one to compare products down to the most painful detail. Whether it’s rain coats or wedding rings I am always tirelessly searching for the best. It is because of this obsessive compulsive nature of mine that I decided to start this blog about STUFF.

Training for survival and emergency situations if very important and I suggest everyone reading this to at least begin the process. A simple CPR class at your local YMCA could save a loved ones life. I personally like to leave the SELF side of this equation to the pros (i.e. military, police, fire department, EMT, etc.) so you won’t find many “how to’s” here but check out our links section for some good resources.
