The SureFire E1E Executive Flashlight is a high powered flashlight that fits easily in the palm of your hand. I love this little thing. It provides 15 lumens for 1.5 hours according to the specs but our testing has proven to exceed that runtime. The rugged Mil-Spec Type III hard anodized aluminum body has survived everything we’ve thrown at it. The glass at the business end is Tempered Pyrex, which is some tough stuff as well.
The tailcap switch is much more convenient than your typical MagLite. Push for momentary on, or press further to click it to constant-on. This could be very handy for signaling because short bursts on the tailcap switch makes morse easy.

I especially like how this little guy can fit in the palm. If you every had to knock some guy out it would be a lot easier with this thing in your hand (its a lot like punching someone with a roll of quarters in your fist). Theclip on the side makes it easy to attach to a hat brim or belt. I wear mine everyday and forget I even have it on. Its also easily un-noticed so you don’t look like a freak carrying around a flashlight all day (you can also easily just slip it into a pocket or purse.)
This thing is bright, I don’t know how else to say it. I made the mistake of looking into the beam ONCE, it won’t happen again. These things are bright enough to be used in a tactical situation to temporarily confuse and blind someone. This light gets 5 stars for being tough, compact, reliable, bright and olive drab

Price: $79 Retail (I bought mine at the local Bass Pro Shops on sale)

What made you choose the E1E Executive over the little outdoorsman?
PS your added too

The little Outdoorsman surefire looks great also (LED, longer battery life, hi/lo output) but I wanted to to try THE smallest surefire available. The smaller it is the more likely I will actually carry it with me.
I plan on getting the LumaMax L1 next so that is a bit closer to the outdoors but even brighter. Flashlights are an expensive obsession, thanks for the comment.

I’m pretty much sold on the idea of a surefire myself. I’m one of those poor suckers who bought a Gerber( the little fella with one bulb and four lenses). NEVER AGAIN.
I got to the point where i felt sorry for Gerber because of all the bad things I’ve said about them on my blog, but they are THE example of a cool small company that has become a bloated corporation.
I hope to do the same myself one day!

Cool! As an Eagle Scout and someone who loves backpacking, I look forward to seeing more.

1.5 hours seems like a very short battery life.

I EDC’d a E2L and a E2D, and it was not difficult. The E1E is a great light for it’s size, but the new Cree Outdoorsman, L1, and E1B/Backup are worth the additional cost. The E1B and L1 are just slightly larger than the E1E but on low mode will run dozens of hours longer.

I agree actually mr. smashy, I thought it would be fun to review the smallest surefire available because I have not seen any reviews of this particular light online. And it is their smallest model.

You make several references to confronting someone with this little light… i’m thinking you have pent up anger and should return your flashlight before some innocents get hurt!

Great Review. This was originally the SureFire that I wanted to get. Then I happened on a 6P at a going out of business sale and snapped it up. If anyone is interested I compared my Surefire 6P to a Petzl Myo LED Headlamp.
